A very nice thankyou message from a local veteran Help 4 Homeless Veterans provided support to recently:
I would like to say a massive THANK YOU to Help4Homeless Veterans.
I am a disabled Veteran that has been out of work for a few years now but I have always been okay financially until the last couple of years.
After seeing my savings dwindle over the years and the cost of living hitting many recently I have found myself on benefits and what I get barely covering my bills.I bought a little extra food in December to cater for visitors over Christmas and the New Year period but I thought I would be okay, however an unexpected bill put me in a worrying position and I was trying to work out what I could do to get through January.
As luck would have it I happened to see a Facebook post saying a little help may be available for those needing it in the shape of a small food parcel for Veterans in Yorkshire.
After sending 1 short message I received a phone call within minutes and a time was arranged for me to meet with Steve to collect a food parcel. When I got there to collect what I thought might be a carrier bag of pasta/rice, soup and beans I was surprised and delighted to receive a couple of bags and a box of essential goods. Yes, pasta, rice, soup and beans we’re in there but so was so much else covering breakfast, dinner, tea, snacks and drinks for a couple of weeks!
This gesture has taken such a weight off my shoulders and I am so grateful – but it didn’t stop there -after Steve took a little more information from me he informed me that because of my situation and my age I could qualify for a little help towards my winter fuel bill!!
So THANK YOU H4HV for what you have done for me and what you do for Veterans throughout Yorkshire.
I will keep an eye out for any fund raising events in the future and hopefully find a way of helping in any way I can to show my appreciation and to contribute to helping other Vets.
